One of my goals this year is to play along in more challenges and use more sketches. I achieved both of these goals this weekend!! Now I only have to keep it up for the entire year!
First up is a page with a funny story. I think most of you all remember this picture of Nate and I on Christmas day, sipping on Mimosas while basking in the warm AZ sun:
Well, we sent it out to my family who were all snowed in on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Nebraska as a result of a huge blizzard that passed through. My parents, the comedians, who were OBVIOUSLY going a bit stir crazy from being stuck at home, sent this picture back to us:
Note the same chairs (the awesome zero-gravity loungers they gave us for Xmas!), the same chair placement and seating position. I laughed SO HARD when I got this photo I was in tears. What a difference in scenery 1500 miles can make! :)
So, of course, I just HAD to scrap these photos. For some reason, this was quite a challenge for me. After one failed attempt (that went into the trash bin) I found this sketch on the Studio Calico blog:
From the sketch, came this layout:
It is a little hard to see in the photo, but the arrow below the photo of my parents says "Frightful" and the green circle above the photo of Nate and I says "Delightful". Get it? Funny, right?! Now you all know where I get my sense of humor from...HA :)
Next up is an awesome little sketch I found on Sarah's blog:
Here is my take on the sketch, a layout of my niece titled Smiley Kylee:

When completing the layout I also challenged myself to use up some older paper that I have never used (yet another goal this year...use up old supplies!) Thank you Sarah for sharing such a fun sketch!!
Next, is a sketch from the Sketchy Thursdays Blog. I've noticed a lot of my blog friends posting up layouts from their challenges (and even being voted to the GDT...woohoo!), so I decided to check it out. Much to my surprise, their layouts are simple and FUN! I don't like over complicated sketches. I like the straight forward versions that leave a lot up to interpretation. The ST sketches are just that! So, here is the sketch:
And here is my interpretation of the sketch titled, Boys Will be Boys:
I didn't have a small piece of scalloped paper, so I substituted a Maya Road Kraft Envelope that had a pretty scalloped edge. I love the pic of Nate and my nephew Caden clowning around during our Christmas celebration. I will be entering this layout into their challenge, hence meeting my goal of completing sketches AND challenges.
Speaking of challenges, I also completed the most recent challenge over at the These are a Few of my Favorite Things blog! The challenge this time was to pick your favorite scent. For me that was EASY PEASY...Mac Turquatic, OF COURSE!. (I think I may have mentioned that here a time or two recently...)
Here is my page:
Of course, I'm not entering to win a prize, but I wanted to play along anyhow! Don't forget that Green Horned Unicorn is the challenge sponsor there this month! Play along to win a fabulous prize from my Etsy shop! To double your odds, you can enter the giveaway on my blog here. You have until 8pm MST on Monday to enter!
Thanks for stopping by!
XOXO, Antonia
