Now that the craziness of the Holiday season is behind us, and a new year is about to begin, I think it’s time for all of us to take a well deserved break! What better way to kick back and relax than with a good magazine full of lots of eye-candy and inspiration, right? Well, grab your laptop and find your favorite chair, because here are three awesome magazines, all distributed exclusively online. And, the best part?! They’re all FREE :)
When online magazines first started appearing as an alternative to the paper subscription, I found it a bit odd to page through a screen as opposed to flipping through an actual paper copy of a magazine. But, as I viewed more and more online publications, I discovered some pretty cool things. In most online publications, everything is hyper-linked. For example, if you see a cool ad or item in an article, chances are you can just click on it and you will be taken to its source. No more searching online or trying to remember an advertiser’s website. Also, if you find something on a page you’d like to keep or hold on to, you can just print it out as opposed to ripping it out of a physical copy. Also, many online magazines are downloadable to your computer so you can take them with you to view when you’re without internet connection. Pretty cool right? So, without further ado, here are my three favorite free online publications!
First up, Lonny Magazine.
Like many of you, I was devastated when Domino Magazine ceased publication. So, you can imagine my excitement when I came across the inaugural issue of Lonny this fall, created by a former editor of Domino. With pretty, fun décor, textiles and more, Lonny boasts many of the great qualities of Domino. Take a peek at their second issue here!
Next, is Neet Magazine, produced in the UK, and the magazine...well, paradon the pun, is quite "neet" indeed.
Neet focuses on Independent artisan and designers from across the globe. It’s a great way to check out fashion and design from a worldwide perspective. There are a quite a few back issues that you can spend HOURS browsing! They also have a blog with even more eye-candy and design.
Last, we have Parasol Magazine which is dedicated to artists, designers and creative lifestyles.
Parasol also has a sister publication, Parasol Crafts, available for a very, very low price.
